Journalists In Trouble
Crackdown In Crimea
Trial of RFE/RL Contributor Mykola Semena Adjourned Until May 3
A single witness for the prosecution testified in the latest session of the trial in the Crimean capital, Simferopol, while two other prosecution witnesses failed to appear. Semena is fighting what he says is a politically motivated separatism charge on the Russian-controlled peninsula.
About This Page
RFE/RL contributors and journalists and the staff members who support them risk intimidation, physical harm, and imprisonment because of the work they do. This page reports on these incidents to raise awareness about pressure tactics used against journalists, mobilize support on their behalf, and document the high price of reporting in places where the media is unfree.
