(Washington, DC--March 6, 2008) A four-minute video interview with Radio Farda correspondent Parnaz (Nazy) Azima has been posted to the RFE/RL website. During the interview with RFE/RL desk editor Jeffrey Donovan, Azima talks about her conviction and sentencing on charges of "spreading anti-state propaganda" for her work with Radio Farda and the challenges faced by journalists in Iran, who operate in conditions she termed more desperate than her own.
Azima's case was also the focus of several newspaper articles published today. Doreen Carvajal of the "International Herald Tribune" published an article titled "Radio Free Europe journalist accuses Iran of intimidation," which also appeared in "The Boston Globe" under the headline "Iran accused of bullying broadcast journalist." In addition, an article by Eli Lake titled "'Filthy Trick': Iran Targets 95-Year-Old Mother of Journalist" appeared on the front page of today's edition of "The New York Sun".
