Officials from Pakistan’s Awami National Party (ANP) visited RFE/RL headquarters in Prague today for a briefing with RFE/RL journalists on the security and political situation in the tribal regions of Pakistan. The delegation also met with RFE/RL's Radio Free Afghanistan.
ANP Foreign Minister, Haider Ali Khan, offered his unique perspective as a representative in the region's provincial assembly for Swat, a once-peaceful tourist haven that in the past year has become a center of Taliban insurgency. [Read the interview with Haider Khan]
In addition to Mr. Khan, the three-member delegation included ANP Additonal Secretary General, Hashem Baber, and Muhammad Raza, Managing Director of the Baacha Khan Foundation, a charity working to promote high-level secular education programs in the Northwest Frontier Provinces of Pakistan.
