Vahid Pour Ostad of Radio Farda was honored for a second time in 2012, this time for an outstanding piece of radio journalism ("Born In Prison") that addresses the subject of prison life and explores what it means to be one of the tens of thousands of Iranians living under constant scrutiny and threat of arrest through no fault of their own. In this piece, Vahid speaks to Hooman Mousavi, a man born in prison as the child of political prisoners and returned to prison as an adult for his role in the 2009 election-year protests. The report is deeply moving, and serves as a fresh reminder of the inhumanity so many people continue to face in RFE/RL's broadcast region.
