# Georgia’s policy toward Russia is changing rapidly under the government of Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili. Critics say Tbilisi is softening its stance and risking the country’s security, but officials in the new government say their approach is more pragmatic. # Irakli Alasania served as Georgia’s UN Ambassador before resigning in late 2008 and joining the opposition to President Mikheil Saakashvili.
