AfPak File Podcast: Education Amid Violence In Afghanistan

Afghanistan (November 03, 2020): Protest against Kabul University terrorist attack in Paktya University

Despite the launch of an intra-Afghan dialogue between the Afghan state and the Taliban, violence continues to ravage Afghanistan. Among the targets of this bloodshed have been educational institutions.

The latest episode of The AfPak File examines the personal toll that such violence has taken on students and educators, and why schools have so often come under attacks. It also considers the implications of this unending violence for peace prospects in Afghanistan.

Joining the debate are Jamaluddin Saberi, the Dean of the faculty of Public Policy and Administration at the Kabul University, David Sedney, President of the American University of Afghanistan; Jamila Jawid, a Kabul University student, who survived a recent attack by the militants, and Michael Kugelman, senior associate for South Asia at the Wilson Center.

Muhammad Tahir of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty moderates the discussion.
