Afghanistan, already experiencing serious security challenges due to an intensifying Taliban insurgency and terrorist violence, is suffering through a rash of attacks on members of civil society.

Journalists, election activists, and women's rights workers have all been targeted in recent weeks.

Who may be behind these attacks, why might they be happening, what effect are they having on Afghans, and what do they mean for the country's nascent peace process? The latest episode of The AfPak File examines these questions and more.

Joining the discussion are Mariam Wardak, an Afghan-American journalist and director of Her Afghanistan; Mujeeb Khelwatgar, CEO of Afghanistan's Nai Media Institute; Aliya Iftikhar, South Asia coordinator for the Committee to Protect Journalists; and Michael Kugelman, senior associate for South Asia at the Wilson Center.

Muhammad Tahir, media manager for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, moderates the debate.
