As the Taliban approach their first 100 days in power, The AfPak File will be featuring several discussions that review the Taliban’s performance as a government so far.

The first debate looks at how the Taliban have addressed Afghanistan’s rapidly worsening humanitarian crisis. What have they done so far? Are there indications that they have developed a plan or strategy, beyond requesting support from the international community? Have the Taliban viewed the humanitarian crisis as a policy priority?

These questions and more are addressed by Pashtana Zalmay Khan Durrani, executive director of TeachAfghanistan; Halima Kazem, a journalist and scholar on Afghanistan, gender, and media at San Jose State University; Andrew Watkins, senior analyst for Afghanistan at the U.S. Institute of Peace; and Michael Kugelman, senior associate for South Asia at the Wilson Center.

Muhammad Tahir, media manager for RFE/FL’s in Washington, moderates the debate.
