Alhurra TV correspondent Bashar Fahmi was last seen when he was traveling with his cameraman Cüneyt Ünal in Syria on August 20. A firefight erupted, and the two were caught in the crossfire. Both were captured, although Ünal was released 90 days later.

The Committee to Protect Journalists recently reported that "at least 32 journalists have been killed in Syria since the start of the revolution in 2011, making Syria the most dangerous place in the world for journalists in 2012."
