In a letter to Belarus's Foreign Minister this week, Dunja Mijatovic, the OSCE's Representative on Freedom of the Media, expressed concern about reports of pressure against independent media in Belarus. Mijatovic noted the 'chilling' effect that intimidation has had on an journalism in Belarus, criticized a criminal defamation case recently launched against an independent website and expressed disappointment that Internet legislation was adopted without public consultation.
