Starting on August 20, 2018, The Vera and Donald Blinken Open Society Archives (OSA) is sharing "live" coverage of the 1968 invasion of Czechoslovakia, with close to 4,000 news items issued by RFE between August 20 and September 10, 1968.
The documents will be published online exactly 50 years after their initial release. The public will be able to follow the unfolding of the invasion as RFE reported it, sometimes by the minute.
A website of the Blinken OSA includes the entire catalog of 4,000 documents, photographs of the operations of RFE's Central News Room, and images of the occupying forces entering the town of Košice. It also includes a rare set of original leaflets protesting against the Soviet-led invasion across Czechoslovakia.
