We're looking for an enthusiastic Data/Visual Journalist to join our small, but highly creative and dynamic digital team within RFE/RL’s Central Newsroom. You’ll use your design skills and sharp editorial judgment to pitch and create content such as charts and maps as well as larger data visualizations, interactives, and microsites. Your innovative digital storytelling will enhance our coverage of a diverse region that spans the former Soviet Union as well as Iran, the Balkans, and Afghanistan. Our team is based in Prague, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, producing everything from small static graphics, to social videos, to longform interactive pieces. What we’re looking for:

1/ Visual Portfolio is a must. We're looking for at least 2 years of relevant news design experience.

2/ Native-level English.

3/ Sharp editorial acumen, and attention to detail.

4/ You're always learning the latest digital storytelling methods, and you have a desire to push the envelope.

Job Requirements:

1/ HTML, CSS, Javascript proficiency.

2/ Expert user of graphic design programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Sketch, etc.

3/ Knowledge of responsive web design techniques, and CMSes.

4/ Experience with visualization libraries such as D3.

5/ Versed in social-media best practices, such as appropriate sizes of visual content on Facebook, and Twitter.


1/ Experience with motion graphics and video storytelling using tools such as Adobe After Effects.

2/ Fluency in another language from RFE/RL’s broadcast region.
