Lead Music Producer, Radio Farda

RFE/RL is looking for the Lead Music Producer. In this position, you will be responsible for all the music/info portions of Radio Farda’s programs. This includes selecting the best mix of songs, supervising other staff members in the creation of music/infotainment programs and related product quality, as well as planning, presenting, supervising and editorial control of the information segments within the music programs. In addition, Lead Music Producer is responsible to plan and supervise the execution of programming innovations in the music/info blocks.

Main responsibilities

  • Fully plan, supervise and execute Radio Farda’s music/information programming (over 12 hours per day)
  • Manage and regularly update Farda’s music database (audio and video clips) make sure that daily song selections offer proper balance, in terms of song genres and in terms of program slots
  • In case of news emergencies, alter the music programming immediately
  • Plan, supervise production and edit the information segments (Science, Health, etc.) of the music/info blocks
  • Provide technical supervision and support of the Farda program stream. Adjust programming as needed to incorporate special features, live and other additional news programming and other special programs as needed
  • Participate in research and analysis to determine what music is most appropriate for use by Farda
  • Produce and voice promos for frequencies, station IDs and other promotional elements as needed
  • Host and produce regular entertainment radio and TV programs and play a major role in ensuring interactivity with the audience
  • Assist Farda’s marketing efforts by producing multi-media products, such as posters and videos
  • Prepare "evergreen" prerecorded programs for use in emergencies
  • Appear on TV and radio programs as required. Produces or presents TV and radio programmes if instructed by managers
  • Adheres to RFE/RL editorial standards at all times

Minimum Qualifications

  • Combination of education and experience - Bachelor degree
  • Experience with multimedia production - 2 years minimum
  • Experience with Audience Research is desirable
  • Team management experience
  • Experience working with digital media
  • Ability to oversee the work of others, mentor, train and ensure accountability
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to the highest professional standards.
  • Strong copy-editing skills, proficiency in editing and issuing audio
  • Music programming
  • Excellent video editing skills
  • Operational management and organizational skills
  • Program evaluation
  • In addition to working regular shifts is expected to be available during important, breaking news events, and work as assigned by a supervisory editor
  • Good knowledge of Iranian politics, social and cultural affairs
  • Good understanding of journalism and news programming and/or previous work experience in a news media environment is desirable
  • Farsi language Native level
  • English language Working Knowledge
