The RFE/RL team is looking for an experienced and talented Financial Analyst to help power growth and provide clarity through practical and intuitive analysis. As a key member of financial planning and analysis, you will be responsible for grant and internal financial reporting, among other relevant analytical projects. You will be expected to partner across many sectors of the finance management team on various projects and assignments.

 

What you’ll accomplish:

 

  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual grant and project reports leveraging existing tools and system to pull and analyze data
  • Collaborate with FP&A teams on dashboards for Budget Owners and management and review for accuracy
  • Communicate accounting misclassifications identified during analysis and reviews
  • Participate in the implementation of process improvements in accounting and financial reporting processes and procedures
  • Participate in formulating year-end forecasting and budget justifications for senior management
  • Provide high-level analysis on the financial statements
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of differences between GAAP and other accounting methods and illustrate the impact of those differences on RFE/RL’s financial position

 

What you bring:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, M.B.A., CPA,  or other advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in hands-on accounting with progressive responsibilities; 2+ years' experience in financial analysis, interacting with budget owners and senior finance managers
  • Proficient in non-profit and governmental audit and accounting, preferably in an international setting
  • Hands-on experience with accrual basis of accounting
  • Proven track record of managing projects and setting priorities
  • Ability to interact professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse internal and external partners at all levels to provide exceptional customer service
  • Strong computer skills with advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Experience managing confidential and sensitive data with a high degree of discretion
  • PeopleSoft experience preferred but not required 
  • Proficiency in English (mandatory)

Appointment against this post is on a D.C. basis only. Candidates for these positions must reside within commuting distance of Washington D.C., or be willing to relocate. In some cases, if selected for a D.C.-based position from another part of the United States, RFE/RL would cover the costs of interview travel and relocation upon appointment.
