Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) is recruiting for a Journalism Trainer, to join us as a member of the RFE/RL Academy department in Tbilisi, Georgia.

You will be joining a dynamic and growing team whose mission is to provide RFE/RL journalists with high standard training in all areas, from editorial standards to innovative skills. We place high value on delivering blended training – face to face & online.

What does the role entail?

You will work very closely with the Director of RFE/RL Academy – our journalism training department – providing editorial and multiplatform skill training to the RFE/RL staff and monitoring training needs for Georgian, Azerbaijan, Armenian language services and for other journalists based in this bureau. You will also be asked to provide training in other locations as a visiting trainer.

 

You will:

 

  • Train journalists (individual and group training sessions);
  • Monitor the effectiveness of delivered training;
  • Design training sessions;
  • Provide admin or production support as needed;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Are you the right candidate?

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor’s in communications or journalism or certificate in media studies is desirable, but lower-level education acceptable if candidate possesses relevant experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in training
  • Solid experience in digital/multi-platform journalism and good news judgment
  • Fluency in Georgian, English, and Russian languages
  • Knowledge and skills to produce cross-platform content, video editing skills
  • Knowledge of Cyber security training is very welcome
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products, knowledge of digital techniques and new tools
  • Excellent planning skills and an eye for detail
  • Strong editorial and technical skills for designing practical workshops
  • Patience, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of international events and politics in RFE/RL's target countries.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and people skills
  • A proactive, enthusiastic, can-do attitude
  • A strong portfolio and resume reel that demonstrates high quality work
