Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) is hiring a Marketing Director to join our organization as a part of the newly established Innovation & Audience Engagement division leading a team of marketers and devising marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness and the impact of our reporting in target markets.
Working in a non-profit organization and helping our story to reach audiences more efficiently you will contribute to RFE/RL’s mission – spreading unbiased news where independent media are banned by the government or not yet established.
We are looking for an energetic, self-starting experienced digital marketing professional to own our social, paid search and partner website marketing strategies as well as offline channels.
What does the role entail?
Among other responsibilities you will:
- develop and implement marketing strategies and plans focused on brand awareness and funnel development
- oversee development and use of marketing budget for RFE/RL Services products; implement, grow and optimize paid marketing initiatives to meet performance goals; manage the advertising budget
- analyze complex audience data and use it to identify marketing opportunities
- closely track all conversion and performance metrics with operational and management reporting to identify issues and opportunities early and act to address them to maximize ROI
- actively advance collaboration in and across teams and work towards raising the visibility of production, distribution, engagement and loyalty-building efforts across digital channels
- help colleagues adapt to changes in their media environments
The successful candidate is expected to have:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing and 3 years of experience in digital journalism (some experience in media, nonprofits, or mission- focused enterprise preferred)
- Experience in acting in consensus-facilitating roles
- Familiarity with best practices, rules and industry standards in analytical research
- hands-on experience with the execution, analysis and optimization of advertising campaigns and launching of successful digital marketing campaigns
- Strong knowledge of digital news production and distribution
- Strong history of mentoring and training of colleagues
- Advanced (graduate) degree or equivalent in experience
- Proficiency in English (other relevant target region languages preferred)
