English Editor, Corporate Strategy

The English Editor in the Corporate Strategy team is responsible for reviewing and editing a range of written products and presentations produced on a regular basis by the team. Some examples of the materials that will need to be reviewed include program review evaluations, digital performance reports, presentations of key performance metrics, and evaluations of marketing performance. The English Editor will also review corporate strategic communications, reports, inquiries and proposals as needed. S/he also needs to have a good eye for detail in order to help prepare reports and presentations for further distribution. The English Editor will also work with and mentor non-native English speakers to improve their writing in English.




  • Ensuring that all written materials and presentations produced by the Corporate Strategy team are accurate and of high quality.
  • Edit analytical reports prepared by other colleagues in the Corporate Strategy team for English and review structure and logic of arguments advanced in order to improve the overall quality. Help authors to prepare final drafts that can be reviewed for content by the Director of Corporate Strategy.
  • Work with the Corporate Strategy team to improve written and oral communication in English and address recurring issues appearing in reports and presentations related to fluency in English.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for distribution and address any formatting issues. Develop formatting guidance and work with the Corporate Strategy team to make sure that the guidance is being followed.
  • Review corporate strategic documents prepared by the Director of Corporate Strategy as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.






University degree in English, journalism or public policy or the equivalent in experience is strongly preferred.


Work Experience:

  • At least three years of experience editing and reviewing written materials and presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience in helping writers to improve the quality of their work, mandatory.
  • Experience working in a multicultural or a multinational environment is a plus.



  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong project management and time management skills, including the ability to adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to mentor non-native speakers of English on ways to improve written and oral communication in English.
  • Comfort with numbers and experience with performance reporting and digital analytics.
  • Ability to work with others on a team and to interact and operate effectively with peers and other associates within a busy and demanding work environment.
  • Experience with desktop publishing and preparation of presentations.
  • Detail oriented with high level of organization.
  • Understanding or knowledge of RFE/RL’s target region is desirable.
  • Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).



  • Fluency in written and oral English, mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Czech or Russian is a plus but not required.

Appointment against this post is on a local basis only. Please note that for the locally advertised positions preference will be given to those with a work permit and/or a valid residence status in the Czech Republic. Locally recruited employees should reside within commuting distance of Prague, Czech Republic, or be willing to move to take up work. They are not eligible for allowances applicable to candidates who are internationally recruited. Rather, they receive statutory benefits as per Czech labor law. Salary scales for locally recruited employees are based on the best prevailing local conditions. RFE/RL does, however, cover the costs of interview travel and, upon appointment, some relocation costs.
